Free practical guide

Safely document water damage.

Enter an affected area only if there is no acute danger and the competent body has released it. The checklist then helps to keep photos, contacts, shares and the possible cleaning scope in an orderly manner.

1. Security

Clarify risks before cleaning up.

Water can affect electricity, components, sewage or indoor air. In case of uncertainty, the instructions of fire brigade, administration, building insurance or suitable specialist office apply.

  • Cause of water to stop or be stopped by competent body
  • Clarifying electrical and building security
  • Remove standing water properly
  • not unnecessarily entering affected areas
  • Document release for further work

2. Visible damage

Save photos and notes from changes.

Photograph rooms and visible damage as far as is safely possible. An overview recording and individual detailed images help later in the assignment.

Write down the date, approximate time, affected rooms, visible materials and immediate measures already taken.

3. Responsibilities

Make a traceable note of contacts and releases.

The checklist does not replace a damage report. Clarify the procedure directly with the responsible administration, landlord or insurance.

Contact details

Write down the name of the competent body, the date of the interview.

Release

Determine which rooms can be entered and which works can be carried out.

Evidence

Ask which photos, receipts or quotes are needed. The insurance company decides on the assumption of costs.

4. Cleaning

Separate technical work and cleaning cleanly.

Leak detection, repair, electrical safety, technical drying, mould treatment and assessments are among the appropriate specialists.

KRIZANOVIC can clean agreed areas, residues and rooms after release. The exact scope is checked before a commitment.

After release

Describe cause, affected rooms and previous status.

We check whether we can take over the cleaning work or whether another specialist office is necessary first.
